According to the FAO, fish represents around 16.6% of the supply of animal proteins worldwide and 6.5% of all proteins for human consumption. However, the vulnerability of the fish chain to fraud, primarily related to species substitution and incorrect labeling, affects consumer confidence in Mediterranean fish products. SUREFISH is working on innovative solutions to promote the traditional fish of the Mediterranean and restore consumer confidence in fish products through the deployment of technological solutions and harmonized protocols.
